Nick Strimple conducted the Los Angeles Zimriyah Chorale and guest organist Iain Farrington in a concert honoring the Bar Mitzvah of the great-grandson of composers Arnold Schoenberg and Eric Zeisl. Repertoire included Kol Nidre and the opening scene of Moses und Aron by Schoenberg, as well as Songs for the Daughter of Jephtha and Requiem Ebraico by Zeisl.

Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church

Premiering his new orchestral work for Angels on my way, Strimple conducted the Choral Society of Southern California and the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and Orchestra. The gala concert marked his retirement from the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church after 35 years of service. Repertoire included: Strimple's Pacem desiderans with soloists Emily May (soprano), Tim Campbell  (baritone), and Susan Richter (clarinet);  and the Mozart Coronation Mass with soloists Lauren Buckley (soprano), Callista Hoffman (mezzo), Marc Lowenstein (tenor), and Cale Olson (bass).

During the "Voices of Los Angeles: Songs of Experience" (VoLA) concert, the Hollywood Master Chorale performed Strimple's Two Flowers. The Chorale commissioned Strimple and seven other composers to use William Blake's "Songs of Experience" as inspiration to compose new works. Strimple joined the panel discussion "Cultured View: Exploring the Impact of Jews on the Cultural Life of Los Angeles." Inspired by the new exhibition at the Autry, Jews in the Los Angeles Mosaic, this joint symposium looked at the Jewish community's influence on Los Angeles and the ways in which the city has shaped it in return.

Strimple led soloists from the Cantors Assembly and pianists Ani Takidze and Randy Herman in a concert of music by American Jewish composers of German ancestry and German émigrés to the United States. Featured composers included Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, Harold Arlen, Arnold Schoenberg, Eric Zeisl and Kurt Weill.

Berliner Dom, Berlin

The President of Germany, the Head of the German Lutheran Church, and the Head of Germany's Jewish Communities were among the dignitaries present as Strimple shared the podium with Domkantor Tobias Brommann in a festive interfaith concert featuring the Berliner Dom choir and soloists from the Cantors Assembly. Music by Schuetz, Becker, Brommann, Handel, Mendelssohn, Fox, Weill, Zeisl and Lewandowski.

Rykestrasse Synagogue, Berlin

Strimple conducted the Ernst Senff Choir and soloists from the Cantors Assembly in a special Maariv service/concert in Berlin's historic Rykestrasse Synagogue. Music by Lewandowski, Kornitzer, Sulzer, Gross, Finkelstein, Strimple and others. As part of their story about the Cantors Assembly 2012 Tour to Germany, Deutschland Magazine featured footage of Strimple conducting in Berlin's Rykestrasse Synagogue and in the Berliner Dom.

In an eclectic afternoon celebrating Cinco de Mayo, the Choral Society of Southern California (CSSC) performed music from the Mexican Baroque period and Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert. Joining the CSSC was the Jack Lantz Big Band, mezzo soprano Catherine Cooper, the Coprario Consort and the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. Strimple conducted.

09 March 2008 || 5th Annual Los Angeles Interfaith Symposium and Concert

Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church - Beverly Hills, CA

For this city-wide Interfaith event, Nick Strimple prepared an evening concert exploring the theme of 'Angels' in Protestant, Jewish and Catholic music. Under his baton,
the combined members of the Choral Society of Southern California, the Los Angeles Zimriyah Chorale, “La Vie,”
and the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir performed works by Tchaikovsky, Handel, Hassler, Mendelssohn, and modern composers Gabriel Fauré, William Sharlin, Moshe Rothblum, David McKinley Williams, and Nick Strimple. Vocal soloists included Catherine Cooper, Tara Smith, Cantor Judy Dubin Aranoff, Cale Olson and Cantor Ira Bigeleisen. During the same program, Michael Isaacson premiered his new work, Five Angels, a harp duet with reader.

Alfred Newman Recital Hall, USC - Los Angeles, CA

Renowned American choral conductor Paul Salamunovich conducted the USC Thornton Chamber Choir in a concert surveying Ave Maria and Ubi Caritas settings. Strimple's own Ubi Caritas, published by Oxford University Press, was part of the retrospective.

Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church - Beverly Hills, CA

The 30th Annual Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church Christmas Concert featured Cindy Crawford reading the Christmas Story and Strimple conducting Handel's Messiah. To help re-build the Malibu Presbyterian Church, which was destroyed in the October 2007 fire, the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church donated proceeds from this concert to the Malibu church's rebuilding campaign.

 || Music and the Holocaust: Survival, Resistance and Response

Universal Sheraton - Los Angeles, CA

Strimple was invited to give a lecture/concert for the 60th Annual International Cantor's Assembly. Assisted by the USC Thornton School of Music Chamber Choir (directed by Dr. Magen Solomon) and student soloists, Strimple presented a program of rarely heard music composed in hiding, before deportation, and in Nazi concentration camps and ghettos. Highlights included authentic recordings made in the camps and Cantor David Kane performing songs he was forced to sing in Auschwitz.

Strimple conducted the WORLD PREMIERE of his Harpsichord Concerto with David Lowe, harpsichordist and members of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra. Beginning at 6:30 pm, the concert also featured sacred works by Strimple, including Five Easy Hymn-Anthems on Original Texts and Tunes, Valley of Bones, and his setting of Weeping Mary.
